Figure Drawings 2
In an attempt to let go of self-consciousness and allow intuition and feeling to generate
a creative response that will penetrate to a deeper layer of truth the artist releases his or her
hold on preconceived ideas. The artist allows the less conscious part of the self to act with
spontaneity and reveal what may be unexpected and unforeseen.
Study 1(conte crayon)This drawing emphasizes the volume of the main forms of the figure.
It also indicates elements of the inner forces involved in the pose.
Study 2 (conte and charcoal)
Drawings are made to explore and understand the human form in terms of mass, rhythm and
dynamics which are the basic building blocks for creative expression. Mass, rhythm and
dynamics are also the grammar of sculptural language .
Study 3 This drawing was made with pen and wash which is particularly well suited
to fast drawing for capturing movement or, as in this drawing, a moment of stillness.
Study 4
A drawing made from dance seeking the gesture inherent in the moving figure.
Signed and numbered A4 prints on matte heavyweight paper are available at £10 each (+postage).
