Bronze Figurative Sculptures 1

In this tradition the artist attempts by means of his or her particular discipline to reach beyond
the small self or ego and open up to a higher creative power. If he or she succeeds then the form
will be manifested from inner vision and become revelatory.

I chose to use bronze to embody these images because the material reproduces the original model
down to the finest detail. The images can be very fluid in their depiction. As sculptures
the stress is on mass, movement, balance, dynamism and wholeness. In common with other
sculptural media my bronze figurative sculpture is an attempt to express a reality higher
than the mundane and is akin to religious myth, poetry, music and metaphysics.

Senex or Old AgeSenex(Old Age)

Details

In these two bronze figurative sculptures youth and age
are intimately related conditions of earthly life.
If we truly face the stark facts of aging and death
we will be challenged to find a deeper reality.

he is always to be found,
just as Age lies hidden in Youth.
