The kneeling figure sees himself as a victim, suffering and powerless
to effect any change in his life.
The standing figure is the potential or latent ability which lies in each
one of us to support the kneeling figure and at the same time to allow him
freedom to discover and take responsibility for himself.
In order to transform himself by revealing the nature of mind or
Buddha Nature, the sufferer has to create an inner tranquillity,
free from the thoughts and feelings of his everyday life.
By means of skilful meditative practices and cultivating his mind
appropriately, he will be enabled to reveal his Buddha Nature,
which is the source of the energies needed for transformation.
View from the right
"Transformation" is made of bronze resin preparatory to casting in bronze.
This enables the sculptor to review the work in a medium similar in form
and colour to real bronze, and make changes as necessary.
View from the left The sufferer has to remove the obstructions of his ego, his dualistic thinking
and his concept of an independent self. Thus he will open his awareness to
the peace and spaciousness of the nature of mind. His whole outlook will be
transformed. His suffering will be changed and he will grow in understanding,
love, compassion and wisdom.
He will reach beyond aversion to suffering and attachment to happiness
and in fact be transformed eventually into the standing figure.
View from behind Resolution, inner peace, love and compassion, wisdom and understanding are
evident in the form of the standing figure , even when viewed from the back.
